An Interview With My Best Friend! | How to keep a 10 + year friendship!
First before you get to hear from Ally, here's some background on our friendship. We've been friends since first grade which at this point is 17 almost 18 years ago. It's crazy that we will have been friends for almost 20 years at this point. Anyways let's get to the interview as I'm writing I'm anxiously excited to talk to Ally, she is gonna answer most of these questions, but I you know me well you know I will pipe in with my two sense here, and there.
Interview With My best friend (Ally)!
1. How and When did you meet
Ally:1st grade (2001-2002) we had class together.
Katie: Yeah I'm not actually sure what the situation was and how we met, but we were 6 so that's why.
2. Describe Katie in one word
Ally:It’s hard with only one word but I’d say kind haha.
3. If you could go anywhere in the world together where would you go?
Ally:I would say either England or Ireland haha
Katie: This is interesting I wasn't expecting this. I would say Chicago because we love the #onechicago shows and I could see us going on that adventure together.
4. What's your favorite memory together?
Ally: I would say probably my 16th birthday party haha I know that wasn’t just us but still
Katie: That was fun, but I probably would say the nights we spent together at our old college when we went to college for four semesters before I transferred to a university.
5. favorite thing about Katie?
Ally: I feel like this is such a cliche answer but like how you’re always there for me and you’re just always a good friend
6. What is something weird that Katie Eats?
Ally:Avocado toast haha like I like avocado if it’s in a sauce but not by itself
Katie: well now I know the fate of this friendship... hahaa!
7. When do you think we became "best friends" ?
Ally: I think I would say as soon as we met like at least it became obvious that we would be then.
8. what's Katie's favorite food?
Ally:Chicken parm
Katie: Funny story I had that for lunch today... oh man I'm drooling thinking about it.
9. What is Katie's Pet Peeve?
Ally:People complaining about everything!
Katie: YESSSS!!! I mean I have a few, but that's on the top of the list.
10. Where do you see Katie in 10 years?
Ally: As a elementary or early education teacher because that’s what she wants to do, married, and probably would have at least one kid by now.
Katie: I'd like to see myself married with at least 1 kid. I would love to be a teacher wether that means to elementary kids, or to elementary kids with disabilities. that is something I'm super passionate about, but also I would still love to be doing youtube & blogging of course.
11. What are 3 shows/movies we've watched together?
Ally:The Night Shift, Chicago PD, and Nightflyers.
12. What's my Starbucks order?
Ally: Iced Carmel Machiatto
Katie: Yes that, but with extra Carmel because I love that. I also like to change up my order every once in a while too.
13. Who would be the ideal guy for Katie?
Ally:Obviously someone who has similar interests as her, but like they’d also have to be as kind as her.
Katie: Pretty much, but also someone who is funny because I love to laugh. I also would love to end up with someone who is extroverted because I am more of an introvert.
14. What is your dream concert to go to together?
Ally: Thomas Rhett
15. what's my ideal weekend?
Ally: binge watching her favorite shows
16. how many kids do I want? vs how many do see me having?
Ally: think you said 4 before, but I see you having 2 or 3.
17. If Katie wrote a book what would it be about and what would she call it?
Ally: I want to say you would write about your life, I don't know what you would call it, but whatever it is the name would be great!
18. If Katie could be fluent in any language what language would I chose?
Ally: ASL but I think you are kinda.
Katie: I'm not fluent, but I know 2 semesters worth of it.
19. What was my favorite childhood show?
Ally:Barney
Katie: I mean yeah that was one of them.
20. What is a nickname Katie hates being called?
Ally: I would say Kate but I don’t think you mind that
Katie: I actually like that like a lot of my professors call me that!
21. what's a movie I can watch 100 times without getting sick of it?
Ally: Safe Haven
22. If Katie could only eat at one fast food place for the rest of her life where would it be?
Ally: Chick-Fil-A
23. What is your favorite feature of mine?
Ally:This sounds weird haha but your personality like idk how to explain it.
24.What is an attribute you wish you had like Katie?
Ally: To be kind to everyone like I am but even more
25. How do you think you've stayed best friends for over 10 years, coming up on 20 years?
Ally: I think that having similar interests helps so like we have things to talk about and just from being in school together.
Katie: Most of my childhood friendships have broken off I guess. Most of my friends we lost touch. Ally is the only one I talk to on daily basis or even much from high school. I think we've stayed friends with yes common interests, but also because we both make an effort to stay close. We're not together everyday like we used to be, but when we can we do. If your wondering how to keep a good friendship I don't have the answer. We are in a world where anything can happen. Keep your friends close and everything will work out.
On that note were best friends and sisters in a way too. With everyone friendship it has it's ups and downs. Growing up we would fight like sisters, but at the end of the day we always made up. There have been bumps in the road, times when we weren't as close, but if you can overcome that, you can over come anything. Friendship is hard and you have to put in the work. Yeah there may be one friend that does more work, but if you want to keep the friendship going that's what to do. On top of that be honest. Honesty is what has kept us close and that's what matters.
