How I deal With Breakouts POST ACCUTANE! | Katiexobeauty

Hey everyone! I hope your all doing well. Today I decided to do my first ever skincare post here. If you don't follow me on youtube you may not have known that I struggled with acne for years. It was bad like real bad. April marked my 1 year anniversary with finishing ACCUTANE (which is a medication that is known for clearing acne!) You can check out my whole experience here

Today I decided that I would talk about what my experience with breakouts has been like post accutane. I want to share my experience and tips for you because dealing with even the most minor breakouts post accutane can be a struggle! Let's get into it!

Dealing With Breakout's post Accutane!

I first off just want to talk about the history of my acne. I got acne in high school, but it was pretty typical. It was what most teenager acne was. I would have times where I broke out a good amount and other times where I broke out only a little. It didn't get really bad until The summer after my sophomore year of college. There was a difference in breakouts when I was younger my breakouts were more hormonal, but I noticed later in college my breakouts slowly became more cystic and spiraled from there.

After Accutane I really didn't break out for a while. I want to say it was at least 8 months if not longer until I got a minor breakout again. That made me super happy because when I would breakout it was always all the time. Now when I breakout post accutane it is more hormonal. The Accutane cleared me of all cystic acne. I always knew that the breakouts post accutane were normal. I just have to deal with it.

My tips/Tricks

  1. Breakouts are normal don't freak out!

I think the first time I broke out post accutane I freaked out. I was like oh great the acne is coming back. This is just great. I knew from what my doctor told me that any breakouts post accutane were hormonal, but still even over a year later I freak out. I go nuts when I break out even though it is just normal.

My advice to anyone is to not freak out because that just isn''t going to help anything. Just stay calm and tell yourself that it will pass

2. Treat it

Every month when I breakout I will always treat the pimples as soon as possible. I will do charcoal masks and use tea tree oil and use a treatment. I will do what I can to calm my skin down again. I love the Mario Bedesco drying lotion it dries my pimples overnight. I love tea tree oil for under makeup, but the drying lotion is for sure my ride or die!

3. Make sure your taking care of yourself

Take care of yourself. Make sure your drinking lots of water. That keeps the skin hydrated and clear. I don't know what it is, but it truly does make a difference. Also make sure your changing your pillow cases and cleaning your makeup brushes regularly. The simplest things really do work at preventing the simplest breakouts.

4. Let Your Skin Breathe

It's not good to wear makeup everyday. It can clog your pores and cause more breakouts.  usually like to take 2 days a week and not wear makeup. I will let my skin breathe and sometimes on those days I will also do some face masks.

5. Don't overdue the skincare routine!

It's always good to keep your routine simple! Doing too much can just make things worse. I like to just do a few steps and not overcomplicate things. I have a AM post accutane skin care routine (click here to watch) I will also be doing a night one very soon! I love masking a few times a week and even more when I am getting these breakouts, but overall I like to keep my routine short and sweet.

Also keep in mind that a second course of accutane is possible. I know it seems annoying to have to go on accutane twice, but if it helps even more than it's 100% Worth it. Don't let yourself go there though. Skin goes through phases. It's ok to breakout.

Just remember that!
