Spring Semester 2020 Wrap up! | Almost a UNDERGRAD GRADUATE!
Hey everyone! Today's blog is going to be a little different. Today I'm going to be talking about my spring semester and how everything went. I will also be filling you in on my classes and a little about most of them. I always love hearing about other people's journeys with college classes so I thought I would walk you through the same thing.
This was hands down my favorite class of the semester. We read several books throughout the semester. We read The hate you give by Angie Thomas, The adventures of Ari and Dante by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi, The poet x by Elizabeth Ageevedo, and hey Kiddo by Jarrett J. Krosoczka. I actually didn't read hey kiddo because that was during my last week of classes and I was trying to finish final stuff so I didn't have lots of time to read another full book even though that one had cartoon pics and my professor said we wouldn't have written work on the book so for me that was pointless.
I really liked this class because of our in-class discussions and when classes got moved online I was sad because we wouldn't have that in-person discussion time. My teacher luckily held choice zoom meetings which was nice if you still wanted the option to talk with classmates and the professor.
My College Class breakdown
First I will fill you in on the classes that I took this past semester and how I did.
ENG 430 (Author movements Audre Lorde) A
My first class was focused on the poet & author Audre Lorde. If you don't know Audre Lorde is a black, lesbian, feminist poet. A fair amount of her works dealt with the racism and homophobia she went through. We read lots of her poems and short essays. I would highly recommend her books filled with her short essays which were sister outsider and zami. I also thoroughly enjoyed her cancer journals which exposed some medical biases and the treatment she faced going through cancer treatment.
ENG 374 ( Adolescent literature) A
I really liked this class because of our in-class discussions and when classes got moved online I was sad because we wouldn't have that in-person discussion time. My teacher luckily held choice zoom meetings which was nice if you still wanted the option to talk with classmates and the professor.
PSY 232 ( Adolscent psychology) A
This was also my favorite class of the semester. I felt like I learned a lot and this was my one class that was online the whole semester. In this class, we would have discussions to write, quizzes to take weekly, and a final project where we would study a culture or time period and say how those adolescents did during that time. It was very interesting and the work was actually fairly easy.
SPA 201 ( Spanish 201 level) B-
Lastly is my least favorite class, Spanish. I feel like for me since I am forced to take Spanish again in college after having another language in my old major that I loved, that it was hard to adjust to taking Spanish. Having it online saved me though and help lots. Now I just have one more class of it to take and I can graduate!
How was it having classes put online bc of COVID-19?
For me, this was very tricky. At first, I was very upset. I was upset because I wouldn't have all those lasts of being a college senior. I never got to say by to friends in classes that I made this year. I never got a true goodbye to professors I loved. Lucky enough for me my school is only 45-50 minutes from my house so sometime down the line I would love to visit. Back to how was everything..... Well at first like I said I was upset. I went home though and went on spring break which was just me at home filming content for youtube. The whole semester was rough but ultimately it all worked. My grades thrived as you saw. I felt happier because I was at home with my family and my dogs.
It was hard, but I'm grateful that the one good thing about Carona was that I could work on strengthening my grades for getting into a master's program.
Anyways that's all I had to talk about I hope you enjoyed it. Be sure to let me know what blogs you would like to see next and be sure to subscribe to my blog and follow me all over my socials!
