My Feelings on 3x03 of STATION 19! | Ryan Tanner *Death* & More | Katie's Fangirl Corner Special!

Hello everyone and happy Friday! Welcome back to Katie's Fangirl corner! It seems like not that long ago we were here talking about Lucas Ripley dying and now we are here talking about Ryan Tanner dying. It really is too soon! Yes, my friends today I'm going to be talking about 3x03 of Station 19! If you missed my thoughts on Ripley dying from 9 months ago I believe it was then click here!

I know for many of us Station 19 fans last night's episode and the end of 3x02 was very painful for us. Ryan was such a beloved character for so many fans as I've seen all over social media. I want to talk about last night's episode and discuss my feelings, but in a more effective way. I think we should all do that. The death of Ryan is very raw still, but I'm gonna keep my mind clear and discuss it all with you! This won't be a recap in any sense! I do want to discuss several parts of the episode and not just Ryan, but this is just gonna be my feels. So Let's get to it!

My Thoughts on Station 19 3x03 "Eulogy"

We start the episode with that beautiful Randy (Ryan + Andy) Scene! I have been wanting more flashbacks on the show. There is a lot I want to know about a lot of the characters from the show. For the sake of this episode, I think these little snippets we got really made sense. I will say I wish we got more of Ryan and Andy's scenes, especially the flashbacks. I also wish this episode was more Ryan and Andy focused because I felt like there was a lot missing. I also found the side storylines to be very distracting. It was very painful that Ryan was dead two to three minutes into the episode. There was no bringing him to the hospital and in my opinion, the gunshot wasn't even that bad. Like compared to all the gunshots I've seen in my many hours of television viewing it didn't look bad. It was hard for me to believe that right then and there just a few minutes into the episode that Ryan was just dead and gone. That is it. I still can't even believe it.

Immediately after the flashback we still see Andy trying to save Ryan. She was trying to save her best friend, the love of her life! like most of the fans, I do believe Ryan and Andy are soulmates. I believe that they were meant to be. I believe that if Ryan were to survive that they would have been together forever. Andy tries to save Ryan with all the blood on her hands, quickly her dad arrived taking over. At that moment I saw fear in Andy, but she wasn't going to give up. The scene that really got me is when Ryan was laying there and little Milo comes up to her and she just hugs him with all blood covering her hands. Also, another moment that killed was when she was holding pressure on Ryan's gunshot wound and he was holding with her and when he was laying on the floor motionless he still had a grasp on Andy. That was a moment that instantly killed and brought even more emotion.

Just like a flash and here we are at Ryan's funeral. I am sad and frustrated that we didn't see a real effort to save Ryan. It was just like that. Last night I said "If they were gonna kill Ryan, they should have committed to it. I wanted to see a terrible wound, lots of blood. I wanted to see more of a tragic injury." I mean even Derek's death looked more tragic as for sake of injuries. Ryan's funeral happened so fast. I am relieved that they gave Ryan a funeral. I'm relieved him dying wasn't just pushed under the rug. It's sad to think about though that the closest people there to Ryan were Andy and Pruitt. It was nice to see he had an aunt that cared about him as well, but Pruitt and Andy were his people. My heart breaks for them. Overall the service was beautiful. It was devastating and there is lots of grief there as a fan, but I think they did the funeral well. I think it was honestly everything it should have been. It also made me think about how sad it was that his father couldn't be there for obvious reasons. I also wondered about his mom. I know we heard stuff about her in the past when she was briefly mentioned, but I'm still very curious. Even though Ryan is gone, that is something I wouldn't mind finding out about in the future.

Ryan had some great flashbacks in this episode. I feel like his character was never really dived into which is a complete shame because his character had so many layers to him. I am grateful for what we received as far as content in this episode. Pruitt going to visit Ryan was everything. Although I wish he would just talk to Andy; I think it is beautiful that he talks to Ryan about his cancer. This is also saddening though because this is really gonna hurt Andy in the end. What is Pruitt thinking? Like does he actually think that Andy will just not found out and he will just magically be dead? Pruitt and Ryan laughing together was everything; I feel like it shows their father and son bond more than anything. Pruitt telling Sullivan all about Young Andy and Ryan was also so heart-warming. It really showed all the dimensions of their relationship. The funniest part was when Pruitt took Andy's door off when she snuck Ryan in. I think that's something that a lot of people can relate to.

The last scene with Ryan and Pruitt was everything! Just two weeks before Pruitt tells Ryan he has to come back for Andy. At that moment Ryan says he loves Andy. My hurt heart in the past hour got warmer with all that. I know that throughout these 30 episodes of the series that Ryan has always loved Andy. He never stopped loving her, it's extremely clear. When Ryan says that he loved Andy and Pruitt says I know that really showed growth. It was growth for Pruitt because at the beginning of the series I don't think Pruitt trusted Ryan. At the end and even last season, I think Pruitt finally realized what Ryan was for Andy and vice versa. He knew that when he died Andy would be ok, she would be taken care of. But now things are just so much more complicated. On that note, Andy is hurt! There is so much hurt and trauma for her and I do think it will only get decreasingly worse! I think she may go through maybe some form of PTSD. It doesn't look great and I'm not sure if I trust where here character is going. I just hope the writers stay true to who Andy has always been.

As for the future for Andy and Ryan. I have heard that we will be getting more flashback scenes throughout the rest of the season. Which if that is true I'm looking forward to that. I will forever keep Ryan in my heart as he was one of my favorite characters, not just on this show, but of all characters. I'd really love to see Ryan and Andy's childhood, maybe some of Andy and her mom as a flashback, more of the teen years, young adulthood, and I'd love to see her story with how she and Jack started. I just want all the background. I feel like this episode gave so much more background on Andy and who she is.

As for a quick round-up on everything else. I feel like the other storylines took away from what this episode could have been for Andy and Ryan. I feel like there was no goodbye. He was just gone. I mean like I said before with episode descriptions it wasn't extremely shocking like Ripley, but it was still equally saddening. I just felt like the other storylines made the episode so jumbled it was hard to digest it all. I get the show has to go on though, I do. I'm briefly gonna hit on the side stories that I enjoyed so we can not focus on the devastation. Jack and the new guy's wife sleeping together! I no Jack what are you doing! JACK NO! JUST NO! This is gonna end badly! Andy's sassiness that Vasques was everything! I'm not loving Vasques he just doesn't know how to take his place. Like he thinks he can just come into the station and own the place like no dude, step in line! We got a little knowledge of Vic's parents which was fascinating and I can't wait to see more of it in future episodes. Travis is really taking his patient's deaths hard this season which hurts. His line with the hoses was good, but I also loved the sass on station 23! That was a good comedic relief! Maya and Andy have drifted which is sad. I want to see their closeness again. I didn't like how in the last episode Maya was almost bashing Jack and Andy as possible captain to get to the top, but I also think if it was a man we wouldn't be discussing it as heavily. I think it's due to the fact that women are just expected to sit back. I think it's powerful how Maya wants to fight for the job she wants. She has worked hard and I'm not against her being captain. If Pruitt didn't say anything Andy would have been captain, no doubt. Maya worked for it and I think she will make a good captain. This episode showed that and I'm gonna try and give her a shot at this captain role. I wish Pruitt didn't say anything and not because I want Andy to be captain. I think Pruitt still sees Andy as that 9-year-old girl. Andy is strong, badass, fearless, and so many other things! I think the rest of the season will be very interesting. I'm ready to see what it brings.
To close this all out I have to say thanks to Alberto Frezza! Thanks, Alberto for bringing Ryan Tanner to life. Thanks for giving us 30 episodes of this goofy, loving, beautiful character. I mean for me and many fans Ryan Tanner was more than just a character. I saw so much in him and will never forget him. Thank you for your phenomenal to our screens.
