1 year of blogging! | Katiexobeauty
Hey Friends! So here we are one year of blogging wrapped up! I can't believe it's actually been over a year of blogging actually! I posted my first blog on March 21st thanks to my friend JESS! She encouraged me to get into the blogging world because I had at the time been a YouTuber for just about 4 years. I was looking to expand myself I guess is a way to put it elsewhere. I wanted to experiment with other things, and I guess I wanted to be more than a girl that posted youtube videos. I've learned a lot over this past year when It came to blogging and I wanted to share that through this post. This is my journey and I'd love to share some things and also maybe hopefully inspire some people throughout the way. So let's get into it for real!
What I've learned blogging
1. How Important a URL is
This might seem silly, but having your own custom URL is important! It really is. In the beginning, I didn't pay for a URL. I just used the generic one I was given. I think that was ok because I didn't know where this blogging journey would go for me, but I think in June I finally decided to commit and pay the $12 a year for my URL. It was empowering too to have my own URL because it was something that was completely mine. I felt like it made me seem like this is important.
2. Finding my creativity
Some of you may know that I am an English major in college, and if you don't know then now you do. I love words that might be weird, but I do. I have always liked writing, but studying English has really taught me that. I feel like I can talk about whatever and really get my thoughts and feelings out through writing. It really doesn't matter what I talk about as long as I put my whole soul into whatever I put out there.
3. design is everything!
Designing my blogsite has been so much fun for me. I love the look of my blog. I feel like I've transformed it into me. I love the blank space, but also the cuteness of color in it. I feel like it describes me in away. I'm also learning how to create something really fun and beautiful every day. My icons are also my fav which Jess helped me with. Love that!
4. Engagement is key!
I always found that getting out my blogs was hard. Finding my audience was always a struggle, but it's something that I've learned more and more about as I've put out more blogs. Some posts don't get as much love as I want and that's ok. Now that is also something I've seen through youtube. You can love a video or blog so much, but it might not get the attention you expected. I think the major thing to consider is what does it mean to you? do you love it? If yes to either of those then that's all that matters! That post is special either way whether if it gets 1 view, 100, or 1000 views. You're doing amazing things either way.
5. Just go with it!
I think the major thing is just to go with things. Just have fun with whatever you're doing. I always like to write about things I love. That is so important! I also wouldn't keep going if this wasn't what I loved.
I know personally if I'm having fun that that's all that matters.
